Great homemade food. The breakfast is to die for. The gluten free bread is amazing. I had the breakfast burrito, which was excellent. My daughter had the new deal breakfast.

We went to Gansons for Sunday brunch. Not knocking it, but if you want a seat or a parking spot come early. I was aware of this and showed up 15 minutes before we were looking to meet the other people joining us and we were fine. Service was good and we never felt we were wanting for anything. The food on the other hand left something to be desired. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon, my girlfriend got the ultimate breakfast bowl and we split an order of cinnamon French toast. A lack of flavor was the overriding theme. The bacon was very run of the mill and definitely not thick cut. The biscuits and gravy as well as the breakfast bowl were much better after we requested hot sauce (which the other couple we were with also used on their dishes). I would go back if a friend suggested it, but I don't think I will be the initiator going forward.

Best variety/most interesting of American cafe selections in the Quad Cities - and great service, too. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu.

I was surprised to see the review from 2012 complain about hair in the food, because I found a long hair in my chicken salad sandwich about six months ago. I took it for a fluke, but apparently it's not. I'll give it another try because I love their chicken salad, but ladies, let's wear hair nets!!!!

The food is still good, and the service is still friendly, but after my last visit, I do need to note that they really need more servers. They were just overwhelmed on a nice Spring day, with the outdoor seats packed completely. Upon walking in, we were told to find ourselves seating, and judging from our own experience and those of everyone else who walked in after us, it meant finding a dirty table to sit at and then they would come and bus it from the last patrons. Empty (but dirty) tables seemed to sit unbussed until someone decided to sit at them. The service was less than stellar... not "bad" per se, but not good either... More wait staff could really bring this place up another star.

I visited this place for lunch about a month ago. We ate outside and joined two friends who had been there for a while. They had just got their drinks when we sat down. The outside patio was packed so I assumed I was in for a long wait to order and get food. Instead the waitress came back and took all four orders. The soup was homemade and the sandwich was a bit too much bread but good none the less.

Had breakfast at Ganson's. Ordered the biscuits and gravy and the breakfast pita with a apple brownie. The food, again, was just ok. I expected better when their website boasts chefs from all over. Our bill was about $20 without beverages or tip. Not a good value for the money. Would like to try dinner, but not optimistic and don't really want to waste the money, as their dinner menu seems pricey.

Unique little place with outstanding homemade dishes. and pastries. Friendly service and great customer recall. Big portions but could be considered "pricey". Pasties and breads made made fresh daily and selection rotates so always plenty of choices!

Breakfast was excellent. Their wheatberry toast is something else (no berries in it lol) The atmosphere feels like it's home as does the waitress. Highly suggested for breakfast if you are in town. A bit pricey for breakfast but it's worth it.

I was quite surprised to see some of the bad reviews on this place. Don't be dissuaded from trying it out. It's a pretty neat setting inside of a house, the service is good and everything I've ordered has been tasty.

Ok so I live down the street from Ganson's and figured I'd try it last Sunday morning. We rolled up there at 10:00AM and I was pleasantly surprised to find I could get breakfast OR lunch. The ambiance is cute and I like to support all thing local. I too got the chorizo grilled cheese and it just wasn't my cup of tea. The flavors were good, but the texture was off. The chorizo was too dry and crumbly for my liking. The sides were either a macaroni salad or a black bean corn salad. The black bean salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. My dining partner had a breakfast plate that looked pretty good - but alas I don't eat eggs so the breakfast offerings were not for me. I was very disappointed with the pastries. I got a lemon bar that was rock hard. The taste was really pleasant, but the thing was like a brick. I don't think it should have been that way.

This us a tough review to write because I have been there many times and I love the chef. But it needs to be said that the last time I went the server had no idea how to treat a customer and got a seasoned server involved to confirm that they didn't give us wrong information, it was our fault! We just asked for a side salad, they said we couldn't do that as there is no key on the register that does that. We asked another server if they had a side salad as it was painfully obvious the first one didn't know what she was talking about. The other server said yes of course! When We explained what happened she left to continue to serve her other tables but decided to cone back and tell us that WE had misspoke by asking for the specialty salad as a side salad. #1 we didn't not in fact do that. #2 even if we did..you never treat a customer that way! I will not be going back! The food is great and the chef is amazing...the staff need training!

I love this place/ great gluten free options / delish pulled pork & other great sandwiches. We've been several times for lunch & always good. Great outdoor deck for warm weather seating. Good friendly service too!

From the great service to the home-cooked food I love this place. The Farmer's Market sandwich is my favorite as well as the Rocket burger. Different food items you don't find everywhere. The desserts are always great and change often. They will be happy to accommodate changes to items such as bread changes or other things.

Restaurant: Gansons 3055 38th St Rock Island, IL 61201-5667 (309) 786-6600 gansonscafe.com "Mr. Crude Restaurant Reviews" Rating: 4.0 out of 5.0: good Facilities: The only restaurant in the greater QC area that actually has charm, character and originality. Formerly an american craftsman style farm house, the owners of Gansons transformed it into a cozy, retro inspired family restaurant that serves home cooked comfort food and delectable baked treats. Upon arriving at the front counter the place was packed and we were greeted in a friendly manner. We had to wait only 5 or so minutes to get a table which isn't bad during the lunch hour rush and the size of the place. This indeed is always the sign of a good restaurant (follow the people). The atmosphere at Gansons is very charming with retro art on the wall and has a good vibe with the roar of happy customers and the sounds of a busy kitchen bustling in the background. Warning: since the place was a small house converted into a restaurant the table arrangements are tight but that is because of the limited space. However unlike most places I feel it doesn't hinder the experience rather it creates a community atmosphere and forces patrons to sit closer together. bathroom was kept clean. Menu/Cost: Finally someone got it right as far as menu size. Gansons consolidated their menu to one laminated sheet of paper with items on both the front and back. Simplicity allows greater control over food quality while still maintaining quick delivery of food. Menu prices are actually realistic given the quality of the food and location of other like priced restaurants. So if you are a complete typical mid-western cheap skate looking to pay McDonald's prices for a steak dinner you may complain slightly (want your ba ba?? [trust me there are a lot of you assholes out there]). I think it is fairly priced. Item reviewed was $10. Total bill for 3 adults was $46 with dessert (tip included). Food: Rock Island Rocket steak burger w/ herb roasted potato wedges: fresh ground beef brisket, with apple wood smoked bacon, cheddar and pepper jack cheese, roasted poblano peppers, crisp tortilla strips (fritos) topped with a mild southwestern sauce. Since it's been awhile since I've been to Gansons (I usually take dates there and thus far they have all ended up in failure) I decided to try their burgers which I didn't notice before on the menu. This burger was quite a bit different than any burger I've had before. There was a lot going on as far as flavors and texture. I thought it was cooked a tad bit too much but the flavor of the meat itself was good. The crunch from the fritos combined with the smoked poblanos, bacon and the mild southwestern sauce gave it a little flavor kick but never overwhelmed the burger. The use of the pretzel roll was very delicious. Warning: Pretzel rolls are very filling and heavy so I was stuffed after eating this burger. Warning #2: you better ask for extra napkins cause this thing can be a mess. Overall I'd say it was a good burger but not the BEST I've ever had. I'd probably get it again but spaced out after getting their other sandwiches such as their thanksgiving style sandwich. The herb roasted potato wedges weren't really doing it for me. They were burnt on the edges and the herbs were a bit over the top. I think if they just used a bit of season salt they would be considerably better. Service: Despite how full the restaurant was, service was exceptional and re-fills were given almost without asking. Our server was polite and full of personality and even sold us on splitting a desert: Peanut butter fudge cookie with crushed butterfinger candy bar and home made oatmeal cookie with icing. WOW!!!! 5 out of 5!!!! Recommend: I would highly recommend going there on a date/significant other, and with your family. THEY ARE OPEN ON SUNDAYS!!!! 8 AM - 4 PM Breakfast served all day.

On my last visit to the Quad Cities, my friends asked where I'd like to go to lunch. I said that I didn't care as long as it wasn't fast food. We pulled into the Red Robin parking lot twenty minutes later. Oy. Same conversation this past weekend, different friends. "Alright, just so there's no confusion: no fast food, no chains, no stupid uniforms or pieces of flair. Just a good local spot." Ganson's it was. This is a soup and sandwich type place that's also nice enough to serve breakfast all day. 40s music and decor make for a relaxed atmosphere, and its location right next to Saukie Golf Course doesn't hurt that either. I went with the grilled cheese & chorizo panino, which got a nice extra kick with jalapenos. It's hard to mess up a panino, but it can be done if you use cheap bread. Fortunately Ganson's did not. My dining companions got the Reuben & turkey club sandwiches, and they were similarly impressed. The sides could use some work, or maybe a complete reworking. I had the choice of complimenting my sandwich with macaroni pea salad, creamy cole slaw, or cranberry sauce extraordinaire. I don't think any of these sound appetizing, and I can say that at least one of them also didn't taste the part. I was insistent on Whitey's for dessert, but they had an alluring display case full of pastries that all looked excellent. Throw in a few better sides and some local craft beer (why not get into business with, say, Bent River?), and Ganson's will have the makings of a local necessity.

Great food and service. Because it's homemade, food may take a while. Love the atmosphere and style!

Ordered a sandwich to go & when I got home after taking a bite out of it, there was a long hair in it. Gross & disgusting!!! Doesn't the owner make the girls put there hair up or something? Who knows, it could have been the owners as well. I will never go back there again & be careful with those desserts for there could be hairs in them also.
